The Coffee Bean Foundation had been working behind the scenes here in Louisiana for months, but it took a courageous Sheriff, Steve Prator in Caddo to let the public know.
April 13, 2021 · Kendell and I enjoyed our trip to Baton Rouge. Our visit to the Hunt Correctional Facility and our meeting with The First Lady of Louisiana, Donna Edwards, left us feeling grateful for our friends and partners across the Sabine River. We are one step closer to selecting our initial Mister Coffee Bean cohort.
The 17-page description and application has lots of details, but page one really sums it up. "1. Wardens are asked to identify offenders who meet our program criteria and would be a good fit as a role model for at-risk youths in the elementary school setting." YOU MEAN CHILDREN??? 5 year old to 11 year old children are not youths.
So many have questioned whether this is truly happening. Here in August 2021, the RAC, gives a brief mention of the Coffee Bean Project, in their meeting minutes. Yes, it really is happening.
